Racism Has No Place Here
Since its founding, Inglis has been grounded in the fundamental belief in the basic human right of all people to live their lives free from discrimination and barriers allowing them to achieve their goals. It is essential – and core to our purpose as an organization -- that Inglis employees and the people we serve are free from any bias or discrimination based on the color of their skin – or for any other reason.
We care deeply about what our Inglis Community, and the community at large, are feeling at this very painful time in our history. Unfortunately, racial and ethnic inequalities have been a part of American society for many decades and have created barriers for people of color, causing them to be both witnesses and victims of brazen inhumanity.
The murder of George Floyd is the most recent, and possibly the most blatant, example of racism and hatred in our country -- but sadly, it is not the only one in recent weeks. We recognize that so many people in our community are experiencing tremendous pain, fearfulness and incredible anger.
We believe that Inglis has always supported diversity and fair treatment of all and will do everything in our power to ensure that continues. Inglis is not a political organization, but one that stands on the ideals that the people we serve should be treated fairly and equally. So, we cannot stay silent now.
As President Obama wrote on Friday: “it falls on all of us, regardless of our race or station…to work together to create a ‘new normal’ in which the legacy of bigotry and unequal treatment no longer infects our institutions or our hearts.” At Inglis, we, too, believe this is our shared obligation – and we are committed to creating a work environment and community that reflects these core beliefs.
Please stay safe and love one another.
